This is my story for Friday Fictioneers this week.  This is a weekly challenge  to tell a story in 100 words with a beginning, middle, and end. It’s  supposed to follow the picture prompt for the week. The host for the challenge is the talented and gracious author, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. This week the picture is a photo supplied by Kent Bonham. Thanks Kent.

YOU’RE LIVE, BOB! by P.S. Joshi

It’d been a hot day under the lights and Bob Doolittle, star of “Monday’s Live With Bob”, was pooped. He turned to his producer and friend, Chad Rich. “Chad, for two cents I’d have told this last audience where to get off. Did you hear their comments? What a bunch of morons! Are audiences getting dumber? Maybe we can pick up a couple of gals who want a good time. What our wives don’t know won’t hurt ’em, huh.”

Just then a technician came on stage. “Sorry. The main camera and sound transmitter were left on. Hope there’s no problem.”

I’m sorry I was late answering some comments and didn’t get to read all the stories last week. My computer has been in the shop for repairs since last Friday until today, Wednesday. I’ll try to do better this week.

    • Thanks, Rochelle, for reading my story and commenting. I’m glad you liked it. I had fun writing it. You’re right. I’m sure that fact hit Bob like a two-ton truck when the technician gave the information. 🙂

    • Thanks, Ali, for reading my story and commenting. I bet almost every possible thing of that type has and/or will happen. Your example was hilarious. It must have been very embarrassing for the people concerned. I guess the only thing they could have done was just be good sports about it. 🙂

  1. Ah, I love that! I was once in a classroom where a teacher used a headset and speaker. She took a trip to the bathroom and, well…her students heard some interesting noises that day. There’s a great lesson in this, don’t say anything about anyone that you wouldn’t want them to hear! Thanks for sharing such an intriguing and comical story!

    • Thanks, Adelie, for reading my story and commenting. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Poor teacher. I guess a person would just have to be a good sport if that happened. In today’s world, with cell phones as well, a person has to be careful both about what he/she does and says. 🙂

  2. Maaan…if this went on YouTube I can only imagine the *crazy* backlash it would cause. It should be a rule—if you’re on set with no teleprompter, you keep your mouth shut until you’re off the set! Good story! It made me laugh.

    • Thanks, Hala, for reading my story and commenting. I’m happy you enjoyed it. I love writing humorous stories. You’re perfectly right. You can’t let yourself relax when you’re around cameras and/or sound equipment. Bob should have known that. Actually, as a celebrity, Bob should be careful anywhere in public.

    • Thanks, Russell, for reading my story and commenting. I’m glad you liked it. 🙂 I’m sure you’re right. There are a lot of cell phone cameras, recording devices, regular cameras, eyes, and ears around these days, especially trying to catch prominent people committing errors. Those people don’t always get caught, but they should be very discreet. Their careers, and often private lives, depend on it.

    • Thanks, VB, for reading my story and commenting. It could be that Bob isn’t liked by the crew. He sounds arrogant doesn’t he. They could have very well been waiting for this. I’m glad you liked it as I had fun writing it. 🙂

  3. Uh-oh. I’d say Bob may not only lose this job, but he could very well find it difficult to land another after those remarks. I sure do hope he has a good savings account. Good story!

    Blessings,

    • Thanks, Cheryl, for reading my story and commenting. I’m glad you liked it. Yes. Bob’s likely to have a hard time of it. Hopefully he has saved money. Some stars seem to have a problem with saving because of expensive life styles. Hopefully his wife will stick with him. She’s probably used to him by now. Wives often know more than husbands think they do. If she leaves, he’s in even more trouble.

  4. It could be a true story. It’s a dead ringer for the La. married congressman who was recently caught on Youtube playing withi his secretary, & the newswoman who was caught, with a microphone on , accusing her colleague of being a moron.

    • Thanks, Larry, for reading my story and commenting. I know these things happen. I probably miss some of the U.S. news because we live in India and usually get the CNN and BBC International news coverage. The newspapers here naturally carry mostly Indian news with one page of global news and some sports news and news about Bollywood and Hollywood stars. I watch some YouTube programs but not that many. I probably don’t look up the news on computer as much as I should. I do catch enough news, however, to know a lot of that stuff must be happening. That’s the kind of world where we live.

  5. Yes, that has happened a time or two. One girl who used to work with us is now at the Fox network and she let off a few choice words on the air one time, not knowing her mic was on. Whoops!
