This is my contribution this week to Monday’s Finish the Story, hosted by Barbara W. Beacham. Every Monday, Barbara supplies a new picture prompt along with the first sentence for the story. The original story to be written should have only 100 to 150 additional words. I’ve bolded the first sentence given with the picture prompt.

LUNCH BREAK by P.S. Joshi
Few knew about the castle hidden inside the island. It wasn’t even a natural island.
Beneath a layer of earth and tropical plants was a building of super-resistant metal.
Within were scientists, with sensitive electronics, checking unidentified space chatter they suspected was from an alien vessel. This was thought to be signals from a mother ship giving instructions to the invading fleet.
In outer space, zooming toward Earth in a flying saucer, were two aliens who had accidentally left their transmitter open.
“Listen, Zictus, I’m getting tired of poctus legs. Check the cooler. I know there’s some doccin salad in there that my bonded female prepared. She also made some special strained piktie root.”
“Centis, I can’t help it if my bonded female can’t cook. I certainly don’t want to hear any more about what a good cook yours is. Use telltie sauce to disguise the taste. We may have to put up with far worse on Earth.”
Funny! I hope they don’t get mistakenly shot by terrified Earthmen while trying to order a Big Mac 🙂

Thanks. Hilarious comment, Ali. I laughed out loud. Aliens going to McDonald’s would be something wouldn’t it? Around Halloween in the U.S., no one would pay any attention. 😀 — Suzanne

Haha! That’s true. They would just try stuffing candy in their back packs.

I agree with Louise, this is a FUN story! They may find that most of the “bonded females” on earth order take out for their families. LOL!

Could it be that Zictus has been stealing the good stuff out of Centis’ boxed lunch leaving only poctus legs? Hmmm, I wonder…

Considering Zictus’ bonded female can’t cook that’s possible. He’s not eager to have Centis check the cooler is he. They don’t seem to be starting out on this trip with the best of attitudes. 😀 — Suzanne
