Here we all are again for another week. Today we’re gathered in a virtual beach home. Our hostess for this gathering is the gracious and talented author and artist, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. We’re the Friday Fictioneers group. Our challenge this week and every week is to write an original story with no more than 100 words. It’s supposed to have a beginning, middle, end, and follow the picture prompt for the week. This week’s prompt was supplied by C.E. Ayr. Thanks, C.E.

To read the other stories by the group, just click on the link given below, then on the little blue frog in the blue box.

The link for this week’s stories is as follows:

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH By P.S. Joshi

The CDE Film Company rented a beach house to shoot a TV movie. The cast and crew stayed at a local hotel, but the director stayed at the house.

The first night he heard a terrible clanking on the stairs. Being wakened by the noise he got up and went to look.

An old lady specter lugged chains as she grumbled.

“First it was the tourists, now a dog’gone film crew. I’m moving out. I’ve had enough. No self-respecting ghost should have to go through this nonsense.”

She turned, saw him, and said, “Don’t just stand there. Come help me.”

    • Thanks, Perry. I don’t know about breakfast. I never really thought about it. If the director asks her nicely she’d probably stay. Her relatives would probably be overjoyed. I’m glad you liked the ghost. 😀 — Suzanne

  1. These Ghosts scare me.
Yours with the lugged chains to legs.
And it is SHE, my God!
Hope I shall have a good night sleep.
    MAAM!
I have written one poem today on the word – “enough”,
you shall get to read it on Monday, I suppose.
Your comments have always inspired me.
    Thank You,

  2. So much for resting in peace. I never understood why ghost had to lug chains around. Feather boas would have been much nicer, and quieter too. She appears a bit bossy, but maybe that comes with the territory.

    • Thanks, Russell. I guess some ghosts like to disturb the peace. She didn’t mind disturbing others but didn’t want to be disturbed herself. A bit selfish there. Or maybe she thought she’d just chase them away and be at peace. She’s more than a bit bossy. She was probably that way alive also. 😀 — Suzanne

  3. I love this, great fun. Maybe if he promises to make her a star she’ll put up with the filming? But that would bring even more tourists…

  5. Your ghost had still endured a lot before her patience ran out. I mean, when was the last time people were put in chains. She must have died ages ago.

It’s a very enjoyable story, Suzanne!

    • Thanks, Martin. I thought maybe she just fulfilled her role of a ghost by rattling chains. You’re right, though. Maybe some ghosts rattle chains because it was part of the way they spent their last hours. I never really thought about that. I should probably read up on ghosts more. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the story. 😀 — Suzanne

    • Thanks, Subroto. I’m so glad you liked the story. I totally agree about reality TV. I don’t watch much of it but it can be pretty bad. I don’t even think all of it’s reality. I read some of it’s staged. It’s supposed to be entertainment and is. If it was always reality it would probably get dull. Yes, it would be difficult for a ghost to kill herself. 😀 — Suzanne
