Here we are again. This week we’re on a movie set where there’s a grand staircase. We’re gathered here to discuss our original stories for the week. This is the Friday Fictioneers group. Our hostess is the talented and gracious author and artist, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. The challenge for each of us is to write a story with no more than 100 words not including the title. It’s supposed to have a beginning, middle, end, and follow the picture prompt for the week. This week’s prompt was provided by Roger Bultot. Thanks, Roger.

To read the other stories by the group members, just click on the link given below, then on the little blue frog in the blue box.

The link for this week’s stories is as follows:

THE VENGEFUL FAIRY by P.S. Joshi

Melissa entered a contest to choose the head showgirl in Mr. Raymond Digby’s Bevy of Beauties Show in New York City. Secretly she had Plink, an inherited family fairy, helping her.

Plink worked her magic and Melissa was stunning but ungrateful.

“You can go now, Plink. I don’t need you for a while. I’ll handle the rest myself.”

When Melissa walked down the Grand Staircase for judging, she missed the third step. She grabbed the railing and her heel broke. Her hairpiece came loose and flopped over her eyes.

Warning: You should never make a fairy angry.

  1. Hee-hee-hee-heeee! Fun and amusing. There’s always humor in a beautiful girl who trips and falls. Probably because we wish she does so she can be as human as the rest of us “average peeps.”

Five out of five Tinkerbells and Cockle shells.

  2. Thanks for the sage advise. I shall think lovely thoughts upon meeting my next fairy. In fact, it will be my first fairy. It’s a good thing you wrote your piece as now that I think about it, I am a fairy virgin and I might have misstepped, ahem, as your protagonist did.

    • Thanks, Randy. You’re welcome for the advice. Remember to watch your step hereafter. Fairies are not only sensitive they’re tricky and have a sense of humor. I’m sure Plink enjoyed Melissa’s humiliation a great deal. I’m happy you liked the story. 😀 — Suzanne

  3. Yes – fairies are sensitive creatures. They need to be kept happy. I like where you went with the prompt, Suzanne. I thought of the Busby-Berkley spectaculars when I read it. All those feathers and spangles! Nice.

    • Thanks, Margaret. Yes, fairies need to be treated with care. I’ve seen some of those old Busby-Berkley movies on TV and loved them. The costumes were truly remarkable. I can imagine the work that went into making them. I’m happy you enjoyed the story. 😀 — Suzanne
