Genre: Humor Fiction

Word Count: 200 Words

There were two important leaders in the small town of Figgsriver, Indiana.

One was the mayor, Jayson Hicksworth IV, ancestor of the founder. The other was the wealthiest man in town, Portnoy Pimley.

In the town circle, a monument was being built. The problem was it couldn’t be decided whose bust was to be in the center of it. Neither of the important men wanted to share the place of honor.

Jayson thought his bust should be there because of the importance of his family and their contributions to the city.

Portnoy thought it should be his because of his contributions to the many good causes in the city.

Finally, it was decided it should be Jayson’s bust. It was made and installed with great ceremony.

The next day, shockingly, it was mysteriously found knocked off its pedestal and smashed.

The culprit remained unknown.

The two men eventually decided the only thing to do was share the honor. Two busts were installed and all was peaceful from then on.

Amos Furdly reluctantly told his wife something he was ashamed of.

“Emily,” he said, “I got drunk one night and accidentally knocked the first bust off the pedestal.”

“Good,” she said.

    • Thanks, C.E. I guess it was rather bizarre. I wrote it fairly late at night so maybe that was why. I’m happy you enjoyed the story because it was bizarre as you’re experienced with bizarre. That’s what makes your stories so good. Also, maybe it’s like our present presidential election in the U.S. Everyone’s tired and glad it’ll be settled and over. 😀 — Suzanne

  1. Cute Suzanne. I a funny ending but I think as this Guy’s wife says, it ended up to be a good thing. They stopped quibbling and two busts were in the two center. Well written Suzanne.
