GOP In US Congress Impose Huge Taxes On Middle Class With ACA Insurance Premiums’ Increases

This is just awful. It should go down in historical infamy.

We all knew this was coming. When the GOP members in the US Congress passed their highly coveted tax cuts bill in December 2017 with a huge price tag of adding $1.5 trillion dollars to the US deficit over 10 years, but they did it by sabotaging the ACA/ Affordable Care Act/ Obamacare. The republicans needed even more monies to pay for 2017 GOP donor class tax cuts bill to where they eliminated the mandate requirement from Obamacare. The mandate requirement insured that more healthy young peoples were obligated to purchase health insurance by charging them a fine if they opted out of the program. This helped spread the risk for the insurance companies which made the premiums less expensive.

When the GOP decided to do away with this individual mandate, it was inevitable that the insurance premiums would sky rocket. This fact has recently been verified…

Jimmy Kimmel Speaks …

Jimmy Kimmel is one who has spoken out against gun violence.

Filosofa's Word

It says something when a comedian shows more intelligence, more compassion, and more humanity, than the men and women we elected to administer and oversee our government.  Jimmy Kimmel is a comedian, not a politician.  He makes his money cracking jokes, making people laugh.  But on a number of occasions, he has used his platform, his voice, to send a message to our elected officials, and also to We The People.  Last night was one of those occasions, when he spoke briefly, yet eloquently of yesterday’s school shooting in Texas.

“Hi. Before we get to our guests—and the jokes tonight—I want to take a moment because, as you know, we had another school shooting today. This time in Santa Fe, Texas. At least ten people were killed, ten are wounded. Mostly high school kids.

And, once again, our leaders are sending their thoughts and prayers. President Trump said he…

Waving~

Beautiful pictures of The Cooks shared by Cindy Knoke.

Waves on tropical reefs,

sing,

a constant lullaby.

Island breezes,

carry,

flower scented air.

As the sun sets,

you doze and dream of mermaids,

waving from the sea.

Cheers to you from the peaceful Cooks~
(We are home at The Holler now, but I have a few more tranquil images from The Cooks to share with you).

Lord alone knows how that happened!

Influence to support a cause.

Jim Webster

It’s my experience that after a while all sorts of people get to know of your existence. Frankly some times it can be a damned nuisance. Over the years I’ve ended up talking to all sorts of people, some of whom probably were certifiable. There again at other times it can be fascinating and can open doors into an entirely different world.

But anyway, more than a couple of decades ago now, I got this phone-call completely out of the blue from a group of farming activists.

“Is Jim Webster there?”

“Speaking.”

“Oh good. We wondered if you could find out who’s responsible for the Royal parks in London.”

“……….”

“You see we’ve already got a freeman of the city who’ll help us drive sheep across London Bridge but we thought we could graze them in the park and talk to people about agriculture afterwards.”

Think about it, why wouldn’t…

A horse, a horse

Another tale of an interesting and enterprising citizen of Port Naain as told by Tallis Steelyard and penned by Jim Webster.

Tallis Steelyard

habits-counrty-1855-1850

People may find it strange that I, as a poet, am about to write about becoming wealthy. After all, I can imagine people sneering and making comments along the lines of, “What would a poet know of honest toil and commercial gain?”

This merely shows how short-sighted and ignorant they are. I am a poet! I know many wealthy people. After all you have to be wealthy before you can aspire to become the Patron of the leading poet of his generation. We poets don’t grow on trees you know. We have to be gently nurtured and tended, our wants supplied and a steady stream of silver poured into our pockets to provoke us to creative genius. On the other hand it strikes me, looking around at my circle of acquaintance, that being a friend of a poet is a position aspired to by the penurious and semi-destitute.

What's So Funny?

Remember when people used to send their child’s baby shoes off to have them bronzed? Several of my mother’s friends memorialized their baby’s infancy in this manner. These were usually displayed in a prominent location, so that guests couldn’t help but see them.

I remember wondering why my mother never had a pair of mine bronzed. Did it cost too much? Was she embarrassed by my footwear? There are still several companies that can provide this service. They will even bronze your brassiere, if you’re so inclined. Check it out.

If you’re new to Friday Flash Fiction, the emcee of our program, known for her purple footwear fetish, is Sneaker LeBeau Wisoff-Fields. Can you have too much garlic?

What can be done with garlic tainted milk?

Jim Webster

prd{60393417-DB6F-4FEE-9758-CEDBD09EA940}
Some years ago I remember chatting to a man who worked for the now long disbanded Milk Marketing Board. One of his jobs was working as a trouble shooter for the board, helping solve those little problems that crop up.

One problem was caused by wild garlic. A dairy herd on his patch escaped out of their field one night and wandered into the local wood where they picnicked enthusiastically on wild garlic. Being dairy cows who had merely extended their grazing range slightly, next morning, at the normal time they all made their way home for milking as usual, so when the farmer went out go collect them, they were waiting at the gate as they always did.

So he milked them and the milk went into his bulk tank. As he finished milking he got a jug of milk out of the tank for the house (because cold…
