Russian Infiltration Of Word Press Blogs
Something important to be aware of.
We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident
In spite of Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell warning Russia to “quit messing around in our elections,” Russians have not stopped. They continue their influence and propaganda. With social media such as Facebook and Twitter taking note and making changes, Russian propagandists have turned to Word Press blogs.
Earlier this year, I received notifications from Word Press for email followers. I didn’t pay much attention to the first one because there are people who follow this blog via email who do not have Word Press accounts to comment. When I received two more notifications on the same day, and they too had Outlook email addresses, I knew that was not usual. I checked a Word Press forum and found that others were experiencing the same and were concerned about it.
A thread in one Word Press forum began in January 2018. Also in January, a blogger named Ray wrote…

Froggie Went A’Courtin~
Some great pictures of a chubby toad who lives near Cindy Knoke’s home.
Either Mrs Toad is expecting, or she is feasting on far too many bugs! She is over 5 inches long and quite chubby.
Dragon, the fly, needs to keep his distance, because Mrs T can spring into action quite suddenly.
Mrs T is a clever critter, who waits patiently at the right time of day for the drip line to start emitting precious water, providing needed relief for an overheated toad on hot summer days.
T is a California Western Toad, a threatened species of ‘special concern,’ due to die offs caused by fertilizer contamination, disease, and habitat destruction.
Western Toads are terrestrial, and we have a thriving colony of them inside The Holler fences.
Cheers to you & happy weekend from the comfortably chubby, and quite toadish, Mrs Toad~
From ‘Alternative Facts’ to Rewriting History in Trump’s White House
Let’s hope those of us with brains still functioning at a normal level or above know pathological lies when we hear them.
Just two days ago, I wrote a post about ‘alternative facts’, aka lies. I didn’t plan to revisit the topic this soon, but I came across an excellent editorial written by Jon Sopel, the North American editor for BBC, that confirms my take on the subject and provides some additional food for thought. I share with you his words …
It is time we sit and talk about truth and transparency.
Every now and then a few disparate things collide, and suddenly you see a pattern. And I don’t want this blog to come across as faux naïve. I’ve covered politics for long enough to know that politicians will try to shape and mould truth to best suit their purposes, to allow them to weaponise the facts that will give them greatest advantage.
And I know that politicians love transparency when it best suits them. But in the…

Get Educated As To How Russian Trolls Operate In The USA To Suppress The Vote
An education in how Russian trolls operate.
1EarthUnited who is a member of my blogging family has recently been taking on the personality of a Russian troll.
History:
Until relatively recently, she would comment on my posts with a point of view of a conservative with conspiracy theory leanings. This was okay with me as she was representing a point of view of peoples who I know and am fond of, except we rarely go down that route of discussing politics when we get together. She has consistently exhibited a strong antipathy towards the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to where she would refer to old conspiracy theories which have been debunked numerous times by credible fact-checking sites. Again, for me this was nothing new. She would use references that are rated high in fake content like WND, Horn news. (FOX TV, Infowars, Breitbart) are examples of right wing media outlets that are also rated high…

Rendezvous at Pier 5
Another free double treat from a king of whimsey, Russell Gayer. If you want even more of his humor, zip to the top of the blog and click on BOOKS.
Hold up your hand if you’ve ever regifted an item. Maybe it was that gaudy touch-lamp your in-laws surprised you with at Christmas. Or perhaps the birthday sweater Aunt June presented and said “IT’S SO YOU!” And to make her happy, you tried it on even though you’re morally opposed to argyle.
It’s always nice to have two or three of these not-so-precious gifts on hand in case an occasion blindsides you, or if the recipient is someone you’re really not crazy about. Don’t you just love that priceless expression when they unwrap your gift and the word “Ohhh…” tumbles from their lips and crashes to the floor?
If you’re new to Friday Flash Fiction, the regifter of weekly photo prompts is Tomte Gnomo Wisoff-Fields. If you’d like to participate in this exercise of madness, head over to her blog for step-by-step instructions. To view the ensemble of practicing…
