Good People Doing Good Things — Maria Rose Belding

More good people doing good things.

Filosofa's Word

Yes, I do realize it is Sunday morning, and yes, I do realize that “good people” is a Wednesday feature.  Further, I realize that there are three days between Sunday and Wednesday and that I have no earthly right to jump three whole days ahead with the good people post.  Yes, I realize there are rules, and they must be followed … protocols that ought not to be breached.  I know all of that … but guys?  I can’t take any more of the other stuff right now.  I need a break.  I need to be reminded … and just maybe you do too … that the world is not filled with evil, greed and hatred.

Maria Rose Belding grew up working in her church’s food pantry in her small Iowa hometown.  She also grew up being bullied, being shoved into lockers, physically threatened and told she should kill herself to…

US GOP Rep. William Hurd, Former CIA Officer Describes President Trump As A Russian Asset

William Hurd, a former CIA agent, describes President Trump as a Russian asset.

Gronda Morin

There is one republican US Congressional representative from the State of Texas who has come forward as a “Profile in Courage” to call out the republican President Donald Trump’s troublesome behaviors he exhibited at the 7/16/18 Trump-Putin Helsinki summit. This is when the world watched President Trump throwing the US Intelligence agencies, all of his foreign policy experts and the American peoples under the bus as he equivocated on the question of whether the USA was attacked by Russia as it interfered with the 2016 US elections infrastructure.

Here’s the rest of the story…

On July 19, 2018, William Hurd, a former C.I.A. officer, and a GOP congressman from the 23rd District of Texas penned an op-ed piece for the New York Times, “Trump Is Being Manipulated by Putin. What Should We Do?”

“Lawmakers must keep the American people informed of the current danger, writes a Republican congressman from Texas.”

Russia Media Is Crowing Over President Putin’s Command Of The Stage In Helsinki

What Russian media said about Helsinki.

Gronda Morin

It should be no surprise that the Russian media is crowing over how its President Vladimir Putin appeared to be in command of the stage with the US President Donald Trump being very accommodating at their 7/16/18 Helsinki joint press conference.

It is well known that President Trump enjoys watching TV. He needs to see the Russian TV tapes where he isn’t being presented in a flattering light. It would be beneficial for the president to face what his intelligence experts had been trying to prevent.

As per a 7/18/18 ThinkProgress report by Frank Dale, “According to reporter and Russian media analyst Julia Davis, Russia’s state television accused the President of the United States of “licking Putin’s boots” during Monday’s press conference:”

No Dancing in the Streets … Sorry.

The real facts of the matter.

Filosofa's Word

I’ve noticed the almost exponential spread of a misconception being bandied about on social media the past few days and thought it would be a good idea to clarify before there is premature dancing in the streets.  The misconception is that if Trump were to be impeached and removed from office, Pence and the rest of his appointees would also be automatically removed from office.  Sounds like a truly wonderful idea, doesn’t it?  Much as I hate to have to take those happy smiles off your face, I have to tell you folks … it just ain’t so.

I understand where the confusion comes in.  Remember that when the Constitution was drafted, the framers were trying to keep it short and simple, for they wanted every man (women didn’t count back then) to be able to read and understand it.  If we were writing the document today, lawyers would be…

Can You Believe Most Republicans Approved Of President’s Performance At 7/16/18 Helsinki Summit?

The cartoon of President Trump pulling his followers in the red wagon says it all.

The following news is important to digest. The propaganda/ gas-lighting loop on the republicans delivered to them by the republican President Donald Trump’s lies backed up by FOX TV and other right wing pundits repeating them, along with the echo chamber of the Russian bots has been extremely effective.

The latest polls as detailed by Axios shows that 79% of republicans / president’s base approve of how President Trump handled the July 16, 2018 Helsinki Trump-Putin summit. This explains in part, why GOP legislators were looking for any possible reason to cover for him even when his back-tracking was patently a falsehood.

Ten Years After – Redux

A fictional story by Jill that’s becoming scarier after the recent moves by President Trump and Congress.

Filosofa's Word

On 01 February 2017, more than 17 months ago, I penned the post you are about to read.  It was fiction then — a product of my sometimes over-active imagination.  Today, while it is still somewhat fiction, it is closer to reality than any of us would like to believe — closer than I believed 17 months ago, for at that point I was still hoping to awaken from this nightmare.

The London Times

28 July 2027

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the takeover of the former United States of America (USA), now known as the United Russian States (URS), by the military under the orders of Minister Donald Trump.  The Trump regime is considered to be a puppet government of Tsar Putin of Russia.  Today, we look back to that fateful day and the ones that followed and talk to a few people who were able to escape. …

Keep Your Eye on the Ball …

How President Trump’s policies are hurting the American economy and its workers.

Filosofa's Word

More than a few times, I have been told that one of the reasons Trump supporters continue to be his supporters is jobs.  When asked in a recent poll what the single most important issue was to most people, the answer was ‘jobs’.  Granted the job outlook has, until recently, looked pretty good, but not as a result of anything Trump has done.  Unemployment was already low and dropping at a steady rate under President Obama.  And now, with his tariffs and the retaliatory tariffs from other nations, that may well be about to change.  Actually, the pendulum is already beginning to swing back.  Consider this …

The following is an excerpt from a story in today’s Washington Post:

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — When a Mexican company bought Mid Continent Nail Corp. in 2012, workers at the factory here feared it was the beginning of the end. Their jobs…
