Here we all are again another week. Today we’re sitting in a virtual air-conditioned library in a virtual large city. Our hostess for this weekly gathering is the talented and gracious writer and artist, Rochelle Wisoff-Field’s. We’re the Friday Fictioneers group. Our challenge this week and every week is to write an original story with no more than 100 words. It’s supposed to have a beginning, middle, end, and follow the picture prompt for the week. This week’s prompt was supplied by Marie Gail Stratford. Thanks, Marie Gail.

MAGICAL REALM by P.S. Joshi
Betty grabbed a hand towel and wiped her forehead where the sweat inched down.
It was midsummer in the city and intense heat bounced off everything outside. Even breathing was an effort.
Lucky she had a magical realm to escape to. Her coach waited outside.
“Princess,” her dad said as he opened the door of his taxi. “Off we go to the land of castles, princes, and wicked witches.”
Shorty he pulled up in front of the main library. Betty got out. “Bye Dad,” she called as she walked up the steps and into the air-conditioned land of books.
