Here we are gathered together for another week. This time, we’re standing on a virtual runway near a virtual jet plane. Our hostess is the talented and gracious author and artist, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. We’re the Friday Fictioneers, and our challenge this week and every week is to each write an original story with no more than 100 words. It’s supposed to have a beginning, middle, end, and follow the picture prompt provided for the week. This week’s prompt was provided by Melanie Greenwood. Thanks, Melanie.

To read the other stories from group members, first click on the link given below, then on the little blue frog in the blue box. The link for the other stories this week is as follows:

OFF THE EDGE By P.S. Joshi

Pilot Rex Franklyn knew this would be a problem take-off. He wouldn’t be ascending, but flying off the edge of a high plateau. Just seeing that drop made him nervous. Could he make it?

His co-pilot, Lloyd Bittner, joined him.

“Well, Rex, what do you think our chances are?”

Rex wiped sweat off his forehead. “I don’t want to imagine.”

“Lloyd, your Mom wants you home. Rex put the tablecloth back on the dining table.”

Rex picked up his plane, lifting it over the table edge and into the air.

“Okay, Mom.”

“See you later, Rex,” Lloyd called back.
